History and mission

The Fondazione Walter Baldessarini was established by Denny Staschitz on September 1, 2024.

Once established, the Foundation becomes an independent institution whose main activities consist of preserving the value of the artistic heritage and organising exhibitions in cooperation with public and private institutions and museums. The Foundation also monitors, controls and archives Walter Baldessarini's entire artistic oeuvre, publishes and researches his life and work and manages all copyrights.

The Foundation's activities began back in 2019, when the Archives Walter Baldessarini opened and the registration of the entire artistic work began. Denny Staschitz (President of the Foundation since its inception) had already been managing the work of the Italian artist Walter Baldessarini for over 10 years and after the artist’s death in 2022 also the entire estate. From the beginning on, he and a small group of experts began carefully archiving all of Baldessarini's work in order to protect and valorise it. Over time, this work has resulted in a large corpus of works, which is contained in a constantly updated database and is published by the Foundation in the “Catalogue Raisonné”.

The Foundation also has its own collection of central works of Baldessarini. You can visit the permanent exhibition at the foundation's headquarters.
