In these years, Baldessarini's creative work continues to focus on the floral still lifes and is followed by a renewed change in style towards a rhythmic gestural brushstroke that is now completely detached from the flat chromaticism of the 90s. Abstraction is strongly accentuated in the still lifes, while in the landscape painting there is a constant oscillation between abstraction and figuration. During these years Baldessarini again travels to Turkey and Istanbul. Other destinations are Spain, the island of Crete, Portugal and southern France. The painter travels to Italy several times a year.
